In simple words, KYC (Know Your Client) is a process used to demonstrate that individuals are, who they say they are and live where they say they live – verify their identity. KYC is not always required to answer a customer’s enquiry, however in certain cases local law obliges lawyers to perform KYC procedure before providing legal assistance/help/service.

LEGID’s Dispute Resolution systems protect you against scams, fraud or sub-par quality services. Meeting a client or lawyer on LEGID App, but choosing to conduct your transaction outside of the platform is called circumvention. This is a serious violation of our Terms of Use as well as a practice that leaves both parties without any protection against poor quality services, additional fees, scams or fraud. Circumvention includes any steps initiated to take a transaction off the platform.

Violation of our Terms of Use will result in the suspension of an account. Additionally, users may be charged with fees (service initiation or lead acquisition fees) associated with such cases.

Whenever you try to confirm your request for legal advice or add a new credit card to your account, you might be asked to authenticate the payment with your bank via a pop-up screen. This protocol is part of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), a new regulation for the European Economic Area requesting banks and payment providers to authenticate digital transactions. This authentication protocol provide an extra security to all your online transactions.

The most common way to authenticate an online transaction is an extra step upon checkout, where the user is asked – by their bank or payment provider – to provide additional information to complete a transaction (e.g. a password, SMS-verification or a fingerprint confirmation).

Do I need to authenticate every time I accept offers for legal advice?
It will depend on the price-offer/frequency and your bank’s authentication policy. Normally, you’ll need to authenticate every time you add or update a new credit card as a payment method.

How do I know this is actually secure?
The authentication will be carried out and secured by your bank or payment provider. The authentication process and its type (password, SMS or fingerprint) is not decided nor provided by LEGID, so if you have any queries regarding security, contact your bank or payment provider directly.

Any exemptions for SCA?
Some specific types of low-risk payments may be excluded from SCA. Upon transaction, your bank or payment provider will evaluate the risk level of the transaction, and further decide whether to apply the exemption or authentication is still obligatory.

For more information please read this article.

Note: Digital payments such as Apple Pay or Google Pay digital wallets are not subject to SCA protocols.

All price-offers are determined by lawyers independently in accordance with their knowledge and professional experience. All price-offers are given in euro.

When receiving price-offers from lawyers be aware that the prices for legal services are evaluated by lawyers in accordance with the scope of the question, details, sequence, court practice and applicable laws.

It is not necessary that a simple question will have a lower price than the one that has a lot of details and explanations and vice versa.

Lawyers evaluate the prices taking into account what laws have to be gone through, and is it necessary to apply court practice, as well as if the details presented in the question sufficient or may be there is a need for clarification. All these can influence the price offered to you.

The Payments are done exclusively using the function of cashless payment through a Linked Bank Card (as defined cl. 3.2 of the Terms of Use); in this case, LEGID acts on the authority of the relevant lawyer or otherwise involving an authorized payment processor and receives payments as an agent (as a commercial agent) of the lawyer (hereinafter referred to as cashless payments).

By taking an advanced payment LEGID guarantees to a client that the fee for the services will be transferred to a lawyer exclusively after completion of the work.

If a client disagrees with the fact and/or the amount of cashless payments and has any other questions associated with the use of the Linked Bank Card, it may contact LEGID through the help desk within 15 days from the date of cashless payments or any other actions or events that prompted the request.

Following the receipt of the services a client can initiate a dispute, then our Quality Control partner (hereinafter referred to as the QCP), being a professional in the field of expertise, shall resolve the dispute within 7 days as of the submission of the dispute. The QCP shall notify the parties of the dispute upon resolution of the dispute with a solution applied to the dispute.

If, following the inspection caused by such a dispute, LEGID decides to refund the fee for the services, in whole or in part, the said amount shall be refunded to the bank account of the Linked Bank Card. The refund shall be made involving an authorized payment processor and governed by rules of international payment systems.
